Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a Civil or Geotechnical Engineer-In-Training for our Fort Collins or Denver, Colorado office. The primary focus of this position is to serve U.S. and International-based natural resources clients (primarily mining) with the design and monitoring of earth structures (i.e. tailings storage facilities, waste rock management facilities, natural slopes, etc.). This position will require a dynamic individual who can assist with developing and performing site investigations, and conducting geotechnical designs, calculations, and technical reports. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with clients and members of business and professional organizations. Travel may be required.
Your Key Responsibilities
Following safe work practices and adhering to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
Assist with developing preliminary budgets, project scope, and schedules.
Assist with developing, overseeing, and interpreting civil/geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing programs; primarily focused on mining projects.
Support civil/geotechnical design through the use of modeling software (such as GeoStudio, RocScience, FLAC, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS).
Preparing technical memoranda and detailed reports pertaining to field investigations and design studies.
Assist with preparing proposals and preparing and giving presentations.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Exceptional technical writing skills, organizational skills, technical leadership abilities, oral communication skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in the office and in the field at remote sites.
MSHA and/or OSHA training will be required.
Education and Experience
Engineer in Training Certification (or obtainable within 12-months).
Minimum of a B.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. Preferred.
0-4 years of experience working on civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects, focusing on detailed design, site investigation, and technical communication.
