This position is responsible for the thermal management of large ground and space-based electro-optical imaging systems. The candidate will define thermal design and analysis tasks to meet thermal performance requirements. The candidate will create thermal models of complex components and assemblies to support design of the thermal control system. The candidate will interpret, document, and present analysis results to both internal and external customers. The candidate will work with various disciplines to define and implement thermal hardware solutions. The candidate will develop test plans, implement a test program, and analyze test results.
Perform thermal design and analysis tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms, electro-mechanical devices, aerospace mechanism design, complex electronics packaging, supporting space-based deployable mechanisms, avionics, innovative thermal and ground based systems.
Program support also includes requirements derivation and verification, system architecture development, loads derivation, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design analysis, generation of analysis documentation (including presentation materials, and deliverable data packages), and leading system test activities.
Work multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing situations.
Ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.
Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent
Preferred Additional Skills:
Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
Experience with Thermal analysis packages (eg Thermal Desktop, Sinda)
Experience with thermal modeling of complex systems in an aerospace environment
MSME or BSME with equivalent industry experience
Experience with active and passive thermal control systems
Thermal testing experience, preferably in vacuum
