General Position Description:
A Systems Engineer, also known as lead systems analyst, a network engineer who can also program, or a software engineer who can also manage networks, is an IT professional who oversees the creation of hybrid software, web and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance.
These products are often sophisticated systems that run on the web. The systems engineer is responsible to integrate various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices.
Duties of a systems engineer typically include managing the development cycle associated with producing a resilient software, hardware and web application, including: specification, design, coding, testing and maintenance.
Systems engineering is like putting together a puzzle, matching varied pieces together to make one cohesive whole. Systems engineers are concerned with the "big picture" of a project in addition to technical aspects and must consider details like cost, schedules and social issues that may be associated with a project.
The employee shall provide assistance in the maintenance, modification, and upgrading of software during all evolution and deployments of trainer systems. The employee shall participate in the development, design, and production of applications and systems that contribute substantially toward submarine combat system and surface ship trainer evolution.
The goal of these prototypes and designs is to produce system updates capable of performance comparable to, or better than, baseline systems/subsystems, while being more affordable and less cumbersome for the operator. Services shall include system analysis and development, technology refresh, and performance evaluation.
This effort shall also include variants of trainers pertaining to any core derivative architectural component in support of land based test sites and on-board systems used for training purposes. This work encompasses technical services required for Trainer installation engineering.
These services consist of analysis and development, trainer system impact analysis and design, code development and unit testing, system integration and test, problem troubleshooting and resolution, hardware fabrication, records maintenance, logistics support, interactive electronic technical manuals, configuration management, training, cyber security, technology infrastructure support, compliance assessment audit, and program support.
Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline required.
