This position serves an important role in the Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) of the Enterprise Knowledge Management Section (EKMS), where the HHS community of practice turns to for information delivery from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to empower decision makers to see trends, identify outliers, and make predictions using reports, cubes, and data visualizations served up by state of the art IBM Cognos Analytics software.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center provides end-to-end IT services to all staff in the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA).
Senior BIU employees will mentor the individual in this position to utilize the latest business intelligence technology to provide HHS workers with the information they need to better serve the citizens of Pennsylvania. This position is made for an individual who wants to learn and be part of a team that’s in high demand because they’re making a difference. This is a challenging and exciting position full of opportunities to learn and grow in the very exciting field of Business Intelligence. While this position will keep its occupant busy between registering new Cognos users, maintaining cubes, and doing new development, there should also be time to develop healthy camaraderie with team members who enjoy working together to propel Pennsylvania state government toward better stewardship of the commonwealth’s revenue.

Work Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; Monday - Friday; 30 minute lunch
You will be expected to work from home (telework) full-time. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Although this is a telework position, it is headquartered at 2525 7th Street, Harrisburg and you will need to come to the Harrisburg office to pick up your equipment. You may also need to come into the office for training and on an ad hoc basis, your supervisor will give you at least a 24 hour notice and all travel will be at your own expense.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Computer Programmer 2; or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or Three years of information technology experience that includes one year of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
