Provide Packaging Engineering and Technical Support services for Supply Chain Management. The Packaging Engineer will plan and direct Line Trials, Validation and Process Capability studies at internal and external contract manufactures for New Product Development. This role will also troubleshoot technical packaging issues as they arise in production.
Take packages designed by the R&D Package Development group to trial and first production.
Orchestrate Sales Sample production to coordinate the divergent schedules of component suppliers, contract manufacturers and Kao in order to meet challenging Sales timelines.
Troubleshoot technical packaging problems as they arise in internal/external production.
Identify, investigate and resolve package issues that hinder production efficiency, frequently under tight timelines.
Create and maintain technical specifications for package components and finished goods for the procurement of components and the manufacturing of finished goods.
Ensure that packaging specifications comply with all applicable FDA, state and local regulations in addition to well established company and industry specific performance requirements.
Identify, drive, support and implement Total Cost Reduction initiatives at the package supplier and the finished goods manufacturer levels.
Develop and recommend package component and manufacturing process modifications that will result in lower overall cost, working closely with cross-functional teams to test and implement.
Drive improvement in overall quality of package suppliers.
Perform audits of key package suppliers to assess adequacy of quality systems.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering or Packaging Science.
0-4 years' working knowledge of general manufacturing, distribution and shipment environments, statistical methods and problem solving techniques.
