Job Title: Design Engineer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop new products and systems which are:
Safe to build and operate.
Conform to the original specification & meet certifying authority requirements (with engineering input).
Reliable, easily maintained & user friendly.
Cost effective, taking into account material used and manufacturing techniques.
Design and Develop New Products and Systems.
Improve Existing Equipment and Systems.
Plan and document the design process, including completion of the final project file and coordination with drafter(s).
Plan and Coordinate testing; analysis and reporting of results.
Stress Analysis of Mechanical Elements.
Participate in the initial prototype assembly on the shop floor to document any design issues and present corrections to allow assembly to continue.
Participate in meetings and work closely with manufacturing and production personnel to ensure quality drafting of new or redesigned products for the organization.
Perform in-depth tolerance stack-ups for fit of multi part assemblies to ensure successful and producible designs.
Coordinate design reviews and engineering meetings.
Interact with a team of drafters, designers, and engineers to ensure accuracy and best practices of the designed product and/or concepts for the organization.
Perform additional related duties as requested or required.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Autodesk products – Inventor and Auto CAD familiarity. (Similar 3-D modeling package acceptable (is. Solid Works, etc.)
FEA software knowledge – Ansys or Algore preferred.
Good Communication Skills in English language using both the written and spoken word.
Problem Solving Skills.
Ability to work on projects individually and as a part of a team.
Employee must occasionally be available after hours and on weekends to take calls and provide engineering support. Frequency varies depending on number of engineers and technicians on staff.

Dimensioning and Tolerancing of parts and assemblies
Basic Measurement and Data Analysis
Classical methods of Static Analysis of Mechanical Elements and Systems
Basic knowledge of Machining Processes
Basic knowledge of the Heat Treatment of Steel Alloys
