ThyssenKrupp System Engineering, Inc. develops, designs and manufactures turn-key automotive body and powertrain assembly systems including gauging and testing technology for worldwide automotive manufacturers and their supplier industry. ThyssenKrupp System Engineering is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan .
Summary This position supports the acquisition of orders in the automotive powertrain assembly, battery assembly, and/or test business by developing competitive proposals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Compliance with company, legal, and regulatory requirements for Health, Safety, and Environmental topics in order to foster a culture of Health & Safety. • Attend customer technical meetings while representing the Company in accordance with corporate regulations. • Comprehend customer specifications and translate them into technical and commercial solutions. • Review customer product information for testing parameters. • Develop test hardware architecture and specify test software. • Define supplier content, communicate, and evaluate supplier quotations for major components. • Develop technical concepts, descriptions, layouts, processes, and any additional information used to present our value proposition to the customer. • Apply standard and/or modular solutions. • Support cost estimate including labor, material, services, and any other costs needed to execute project. • Follow relevant policies and procedures so that work is carried out in controlled manner. • Facilitate internal review meetings in order to gain approval of stakeholders. • Respond to technical queries raised by the customer in order to secure technical approval of offer. • Quality and cost focus within short proposal cycles Supplemental Duties and Responsibilities • Pursue, investigate and report on all business opportunities. • Provide updates to estimating database. • Execute benchmarking and competitive assessments. • Support the review of contracts upon order receipt. • Support the development of design and build specification. • Attend milestone meetings per company procedures. • Prepare all necessary documentation for customer cost audits. • Facilitate customer cost audits. • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education and/or Experience • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public Mathematical Skills • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other Skills and Abilities • The individual must possess an understanding of the principles and components of internal combustion engines (gas, diesel), transmissions (hybrid, automatic, manual, semi-automatic), and axels (drive unites, differentials). • The individual must be able to utilize a personal computer equipped with business system, database, spreadsheet, word processing and project management software. CAD software knowledge in both 2D and 3D environments is preferred. • Knowledge of controls systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi) is required. • The individual must be knowledgeable in developing the following: DFMEA; PFMEA; R& M Plan; LCC estimate; MTBF/MTTR estimate; simulation; Root Case Analysis; DFA/DFM Study; Proposal; Cost Estimate; Budget; D&B Specification; and Cost-to-Complete CTC.
