About the position
We are looking for an application developer to help us build, scale, and optimize Wyndy - the platform that makes finding, booking, and paying college babysitters easier and safer than ever. As a developer on our small, but growing, team you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of the babysitting industry - an estimated $15B market! The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of Ruby on Rails, React, and mobile application development. Candidates with experience or interest in emerging functional programming technologies, specifically Elixir and Elm, are strongly encouraged to apply. are We also expect you to have an analytical mindset, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of UI/UX principles.

Your responsibilities will include:
Working together with development, product, and marketing teams to specify and design new application features
Working together with fellow development team members to achieve product roadmap goals
Writing maintainable, well-tested code to enhance and optimize our platform with minimal supervision
Deploying code to various hosting platforms and mobile applications to the iOS and Android app stores
Preparing technical documentation to accurately represent application design and features
Working with the customer success team to diagnose and troubleshoot bugs, errors, and user issues

Application Developer requirements are:
2+ years' experience developing Ruby on Rails applications, preferably with Postgres and Sidekiq
2+ years' experience developing and deploying mobile applications (hybrid or native) for iOS and Android
Strong familiarity with JavaScript, specifically React/React Native
Experience integrating applications with third-party APIs such as Twilio, Stripe, and Facebook
Experience or interest in functional programming paradigms and related technologies (Elixir/Phoenix, Elm, etc.)
Strong git skills, specifically using GitHub/PR-based workflows and reviewing fellow developers' code
Familiarity with software design patterns and programming principles
Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills, especially for remote employees
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
Experience working in a startup environment is a plus
