Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of the Position:
Provide quick response manufacturing support triggered by Operations feedback as well as product quality data. Overall mission is to optimize the Safety, Product Selects and Equipment Utilization associated with the manufacturing of Optical Fiber. Identifies and supports process improvements. Uses judgment, experience and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Help department achieve Safety and Lean goals.
2nd point of contact to provide 2nd and 3rd level electrical, controls, mechanical, equipment troubleshooting of production equipment issues.
Responsible for supervising area performance, identifying equipment/process issues, and following issues to closure.
Handle multiple issues utilizing sound technical principles to drive resolution. Prioritizing issues against plant and department priorities.
Work with a variety of groups including operators, other support technicians, engineers, and trades to coordinate and direct equipment startup, repair, troubleshooting, and process changes.
Coordinate and advise trades on repairs.
Support Preventive Maintenance efforts on equipment.
As needed, develop, document, and deliver training packages for new or modified equipment to production and support groups in the plant.
Assisting engineers in the design, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation of new or modified production equipment.
Advising maintenance personnel in the construction, testing, installation, and debugging of equipment.
Education & Experience:
We require a High school diploma and 10+ years manufacturing experience or two year electrical/mechanical/or controls technical degree preferred (Associates).
Will consider experienced candidates with skills and work experience.
Experienced in troubleshooting and repair of electrical, pneumatic controls including use of test equipment, and of simple to sophisticated mechanical devices.
Read and understand electrical, mechanical drawings, and basic PLC programming as well as to work through logic for solving problems.

Hours of work:
Mon – Fri 8 hrs/day (Periodic OT/Weekend work will be required)
On-call support every 6-8 weeks or more frequent based on business needs
