The Head of Service develops and executes Service business growth and expansion plans. He / She supervises and coordinate all activities to achieve these plans including sales and technical support to our customers in the Mining/Minerals and Material Handling industries. The Head of Service is responsible for ensuring that service activities are performed safely, with competence, consistency with codes, regulations, good practice and with economic viability. The individual has a firm grasp of engineering fundamentals in mechanical, structural and/or electrical engineering and is familiar with brownfield project environments. He / she is a subject matter expert in mining, minerals processing and/or material handling equipment service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the overall activities and functions of OU Service for BU Mining in the USA, which includes spare parts, field services / inspections and revamps.
Develops and implements plans for strategic accounts that exceed expectations in revenue retention/growth, account profitability, and customer satisfaction/loyalty.
Leads business development and marketing activities for services.
Coordinates troubleshooting of complex systems.
Oversees and supports service related sales functions together with the Sales Engineer, Service.
Performs customer presentations articulating the value proposition of product / solution / service offerings.
Develops forecasts, budgets and operating plans for sales channels and maintains detailed metrics to monitor execution performance and progress of growth initiatives.
Supports and coordinates proposal development together with technical and commercial functions.
Collaborates with engineering managers, project managers, and project engineers to ensure the successful execution of service projects.
Aligns global Service strategy with local market needs and requirements.
Identifies R&D / innovation / digitalization business cases
Travel, up to 75%, is expected within the USA.
Coaches and develops team employees.
Interface with other tk IS locations, such as Germany, Canada, and South America.
P/L responsibility for Service Business.
B.S. in Engineering or equivalent
10+ years of experience in service, maintenance or aftermarket activities.
Possess a solid track record of success in growing revenue in a service business through a variety of initiatives
5+ experience in mining industry (crushing, grinding, material handling).
Demonstrated experience in managing and driving solutions to meet customer requirements and improve equipment productivity in the field.
Strong organizational skills.
Proven people management skills and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Understanding of established procedures and ability to apply knowledge to unusual and complex service and/or commissioning issues.
Ability to make persuasive presentations and speeches to develop consensus on complex topics.
Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of service business including concepts, practices and procedures.
