The Opportunity:
WSP’s Building M&E Team is currently seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team, located in our Saskatoon, Calgary, or Edmonton offices. Reporting to the Mechanical Group Director, the Mechanical Engineer or EIT will be responsible for calculation, design, technical specification, AutoCAD, Revit 3D modeling, and BIM360 services on various projects.

A day in the life:
Calculation, design, and preparing specification for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Domestic Hot and Cold water piping, Sanitary and Storm piping layout, and Natural gas piping;
Preparing AutoCAD drawings and Revit 3D modeling for mechanical systems;
Understanding of building mechanical engineering requirement, National Building Code (NBC), ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA standards for building design;
Perform individually or as a team member, under direct supervision of senior engineers; and
Basic understanding of project management.
We'd love to hear from you if you have...
University graduated with Bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering; Registered P.Eng. or EIT with APEGA/ APEGS;
Up to 5 years of experience in designing mechanical systems for buildings transportation, healthcare, commercial and light industrial projects including: heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing, and natural gas;
Ability to work independently or as a team member to deliver the design and meet the deadlines;
Experience with utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, and applicable codes, standards and work practices;
Familiarity with software used for mechanical engineering such as HAP, Trace, equipment selection, etc.;
Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit 3D;
Exemplary interpersonal skills with team members and other disciplines;
Enthusiastic, eager to learn, detail oriented, organized, hard worker, and team player attitude; and
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
