Black & Veatch’s Renewable Energy division has the capability to deliver to clients a broad array of services, from renewables strategic planning and project development support to project implementation, grid connection, and asset management. More than 250 Black & Veatch professionals have experience with renewable projects, spanning virtually all technologies (wind, solar thermal, solar photovoltaics, biomass, hydro, geothermal, landfill gas, marine, and others). Renewable energy technology experts reside in approximately a dozen execution centers around the world, with leadership from the United States and the United Kingdom.
Your Key Responsibilities…
In this role you will be working in a mid level solar design engineering capacity. Under general supervision, you will perform all aspects of conventional solar design engineering and analysis. This will expand your knowledge and skill set in area of discipline and among other functional areas.
Perform solar energy designs, including but not limited to calculations, load flows, short circuit, arc flash studies, drawing updates with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures.
Quality / Continuous Improvement:
Continues developing knowledge and complies with Black and Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks.
May start to perform internal Quality Assurance technical reviews.
Prepares a variety of moderately complex engineering solar design deliverables.
Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
May perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) responsibilities and prepare design budgets.
Assigns tasks to and coordinates with other internal/external team members on less complex projects.
Initiates contact with other disciplines as needed to identify and coordinate details of the work.
Interface directly with clients, vendors and subcontractors.
Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:
Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
People Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring):
May assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required.
Solar Energy Design Experience.
Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles (preferably in solar energy design) and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
Minimum of 3-year related work experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Typical office environment: extensive sitting, keyboarding and telephone usage. Limited lifting/carrying of files and boxes.
