The CI Manufacturing Engineer-Fabrication will be responsible for direct ownership of the fabrication value stream. Applies manufacturing and industrial engineering support for fabrication department to maintain safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics. This individual will work on complex technical issues and will work collaboratively on capital equipment acquisition with other engineers, maintenance, and operations personnel. This individual will also be responsible for the implementation and validation of new equipment throughout the business as well as oversight of fabrication routing, time studies, layout, staffing and capacity calculations. Supports the transfer of machine designs and process changes to manufacturing in addition to supporting lean activities and process improvements through the planning, facilitation, and implementation of CI initiatives.

Provide engineering support in Fabrication Department/Engineering Machine Shop
o Management/coordination of projects according to best practices of project management body of knowledge including requirements definition, preparation of project schedules, resource plans/allocations, risk analysis, and meeting facilitation.
o Support production escalation process through collaboration with production quality and design engineering teams.
o Collaborate with production leaders, operators, and support teams to determine root cause of systemic issues.
o Lead and support capital equipment procurement, implementation, and qualification throughout manufacturing. (25-30% of time)
o Maintain fabrication value stream through time studies, capacity and staffing calculations, part routings, and work cell design.
o Develop and maintain process standard work including training
o Support implementation of actions in response to safety incidents and near miss.
o Design, build and document fixtures, gauges and/or inspection tools as needed
o Learn and become subject matter expert in critical fabrication equipment and machinery
o Lead/Support CAPA’s within fabrication
o Identify & implement safety improvements i.e. ergonomic issues through workstation redesign
Lead and support implementation of the following Lean Manufacturing initiatives:
o Identify and lead identified improvement initiatives within production cell(s).
o Develop, maintain, and lead fabrication improvement roadmap, initiatives, and KPI’s
Support manufacturing through design and build of templates, fixtures, and work aids
Support CI initiatives through development of part racking, tool cart/shadow board, and part conveyance solutions.
Assist in fabrication of engineering prototype details for existing and new product introduction.
Maintain the equipment and processes in the CI machine shop.
Maintain organization and inventory of all tooling & material in the CI machine shop.
Provide guidance to support maintenance in troubleshooting/repairing fabrication and operation equipment as required.
Create and maintain fabricated part Bill of Materials, routing, and labor requirements
Document changes made to fixtures and templates by redlined markups of drawings.
Provide guidance to support Maintenance and facilities with building upgrades/repairs as needed.

Relative Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years related engineering experience in manufacturing and/or fabrication environment experience required. Project management and ability to operate relative equipment and machinery (mills, lathes, welding) a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing (preferred), Industrial and/ or Mechanical Engineering required.
Certifications / Licenses:
Lean manufacturing and six sigma training preferred. PMP certification and RedX or equivalent (problem solving) certification a plus.
Computer Systems / Software:
Familiar with Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Autodesk CAD/Inventor experience preferred.
Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex business projects.
