JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CFD Engineer is to develop comprehensive CFD models for each computer room at each of the seven covered datacenter. Once developed, the CFD Engineer is to maintain, manage, and employ the CFD software models in support of datacenter operations.
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field with 0-2 years of experience.
Develop, integrate, and maintain datacenter master floor plans.
Be involved in the planning for and execution of all datacenter IT equipment power installation and infrastructure equipment power and cooling modifications.
Perform CFD and thermal analysis for mechanical systems.
Provide design engineering services for components and subsystems.
Provide technical expertise in problem resolution, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
Support design team in product design and development activities.
Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality, reliability and stability.
Follow best practices for accurate computational efficiency.
Provide accurate and detailed reports of CFD results.
Perform technical design reviews and recommend improvements.
Work with testing team in developing and executing design verification plans and mechanical testing methods.
Attend team meetings to discuss design techniques and issues.
Ensure that product design and performance meets technical and functional requirements.
Aid in development of new method and technology for CFD analysis.
Maintain complete documentations for CFD analysis and engineering methods.
Develop process improvements and standard work practices for operational efficiency.
Responsible for reducing operational risk in the datacenter environment while minimizing energy costs to provide a sustainable environment.
CFD Engineer reports directly to the COR and the O&M Manager. Must possess a background in applied mathematics, technical drawing, technical communication, computational fluid dynamics simulation, datacenter environmental optimization and energy efficiency, and/or other similar technical field(s) necessary to provide the results intended under this task. Required to meet all mandatory training requirements to obtain and maintain an account on the DISA network, including a Secret security clearance and IT-II network clearance. The CFD Engineer shall plan and manage site visits and personal training IAW site visit requirements applicable to DISA
