Overview
Neenah, Inc is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Whiting Mill located in Stevens Point, WI reporting to the Regional Engineer Manager. The position will be responsible for all assigned activities including, but not limited to, providing definition and execution of capital projects in accordance with the desired costs, quality, and performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include:
- As a Whiting Mill salaried team member, personal safety leadership is an essential requirement of my position.
- Execute capital projects and other significant changes / improvements while impacting safety in the mill in a positive manner.
- Ensure safety is designed into all equipment additions and modifications.
- Ensure that equipment installations are completed in a safe manner and that proper design safety reviews (DSRs) are conducted and loss control risks are addressed.
- Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.
- Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance and other personnel.
- Demonstrate safety leadership by actively seeking purposeful safety interaction with all employees under my supervision or in those areas I support.
- Responsible for ensuring 100% compliance on all regulatory items within my area of responsibility.
- Promote hazard recognition and incident reporting of all types (near miss, first aid, property damage, etc.) in areas of responsibility.
- Consistently hold myself and those I supervise or support, accountable for safety policy and rule compliance.
Capital Project Execution
- Development and execute capital projects to:
- Support the achievement of mill and corporate strategic objectives.
- Reduce mill costs
- Sustain and improve operations from a safety, reliability, and environmental standpoint
- Execute projects that abide by industry safety guidelines, mandates, regulations, and laws.
- Influence project execution and activity to support spending targets.
- Manage 3rd party engineering as utilized to expedite project initiatives.
- Provide guidance in the initiation, design and development of manufacturing and supporting processes to achieve mill objectives.
Costs
- Support the development and implementation of cost improvement plans and programs that ensure a profitable manufacturing facility.
- Provide engineering support to assist in the maximization of asset TPD, Yield, Uptime, and COM targets.
- Include energy and cost effectiveness in the design of all equipment additions and modifications.
Facility Support
- Provide technical support as needed to facilitate the safety and success of other mill teams.
A successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of mechanical engineering and project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A proven track history of successful engineering and project management.
- Paper Mill experience is beneficial.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills to define problems and develop mechanical solutions to improve process/asset productivity/safety.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical proficiency, and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated individual with a take-charge attitude.
- Understanding of activities and procedures required for efficient and quality work completion.
- Strong computer skills including, but not limited to a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Oracle is very helpful.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
