R&M is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support expansion of our Earth Sciences Department. The successful applicant will support geotechnical engineering work. Working in an interdisciplinary environment that includes dedicated environmental, planning, engineering, geological, geospatial and construction services professionals, the successful applicant will provide services in subsurface investigation and site characterization, planning, budgeting and executing geotechnical/environmental site investigations, develop geotechnical recommendations, and technical report writing. The position will include performing geotechnical analysis including: slope stability, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, settlement, axial and lateral pile capacity, structural pavement section design, and liquefaction potential.

The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering, civil engineering or a closely-related discipline. A Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a licensed civil engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience and have a working understanding of GIS and AutoCAD. Experience with numerical modeling methods, seismic hazard evaluation, and frozen ground engineering would be a benefit. The successful applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal abilities.
The position requires travel throughout Alaska, and the ideal candidate must be willing to work in project locations throughout the state for extended periods of time, in all seasons. Applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be ready to perform physically demanding field work in remote settings as required.

Pay: $83,000.00 - $96,000.00 per year
