Komen is seeking a Data Visualization Engineer who deeply cares about data quality, aesthetics and how data is visually delivered and consumed by the end user. The person in this role is expected to bring the data to life for decision making through research, analytics, constituent journey mapping, segmentation and profiling. The candidate will need to understand how to manipulate and extract data from many different sources to be able to consolidate and synthesize information into imagery to: tell a story, let the information help drive understanding and actions that need to be taken to improve key business performance indicators.
Lead Komen’s data visualization efforts by simplifying end user access to data and presenting data in clear, easily decipherable ways through interactive dashboards.
Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable visualizations and able to seek and see how everything links to the overall objective and mission.
Lead the process of visualizing data derived from multiple sources and incorporating the results into actionable insights.
Architect, design and develop the business intelligence platform – experience starting “from scratch” and creating business intelligence content.
Engage with stakeholders to understand and define requirements and to deliver aesthetically pleasing, effective visualizations that yield actionable insights.
Manipulate data, flat files and raw information into cohesive data sets for visualization.
Develop a strong understanding of Komen’s internal data structure and sources.
Transform large volumes of complex data into digestible bits to enable technical/non-technical end users make data driven decisions while optimizing the user experience and adhering to branding standards.
Bridge the gap between data and end users. Provide training and support to end users to ensure full utilization of dashboards.
Assist & enable internal teams to build dashboards using techniques for advanced analytics, interactive dashboard design, and visual best practices to convey the story within the data.
Work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously to meet project deadlines for self and others as required.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees.

Work Experience: 7 – 10 years
Education: Bachelor’s Degree: Computer Science or Math background desired
Preferred experience includes:
3+ years of experience with Analytics & visualization tools, such as Salesforce Wave, Power BI or Tableau.
3+ years of experience in SQL and developing SQL server objects e.g., store procedures, tables, triggers, views and functions..
Experience in creating dashboard and reports for management and other stakeholders.
Portfolio of data visualization work is required.
2+ years of experience in database architectures and data pipeline development
Experience in leveraging strong analytical and database skills to facilitate understanding of end user motivations and data requirements.
