Seeking a creative, energetic problem solver with good communication and teamwork skills. Diverse assignments may include analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and design of mechanical assemblies and components for new and existing products. The following courses/areas of interest are helpful: Strengths of Materials, FEA/Stress Analysis, Statics (not statistics), Dynamics, Fatigue, Machine Design, 3-D Solid modeling (Pro/E preferred), and DFMA. Typical areas of design may include (among others): Bolted or Welded joint design, Vehicle dynamics, Hydraulic or Plastic design, Cost analysis, Bearing or Gear design, Fatigue analysis of structural components and Design of Experiments. The position(s) available are at the corporate headquarters where trucks are designed, prototyped, tested and manufactured in their entirety.
The ideal candidate will have a basis of mechanical engineering coursework completed and a desire to put those skills to work on real world problems and solutions in a cross-functional team environment. A hands-on approach to design, prototype, testing and problem solving is desirable. The successful co-op should expect to leave much better qualified as an entry level engineer with experience specific to design and manufacturing companies with a strong mechanical aspect to their products.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree, typically starting or already in their junior year. No previous work experience is required.
