Copper Valley Telecom is currently seeking a Telecom Network Engineer (I, II, or III) to provide engineering support for both inside and outside communications facilities in Glennallen or Valdez, AK.

The selected applicant will work closely with the Plant and IT Departments of the Cooperative in designing, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading all aspects of the core, access, and distribution networks and associated equipment, including the design and support of services deployed via Ethernet, IP, MPLS, OTN, SONET, and WDM-based platforms.

Additionally this position will
Understand general engineering of transport and switching infrastructures.
Basic understanding of LAN, WAN, VLAN and VPN operations.
General understanding of network design principles.
General knowledge of various protocols and systems such as TCP/IP, SIP, Sonet, Ethernet, VoIP and be able to identify/analyze and troubleshoot.
Ability to monitor and coordinate contract installations and assist in performance testing.
Ability to research, evaluate and recommend appropriate network tools, software, and documentation to assure quality maintenance, monitoring and network administration of local and wide area networks.
Ability to perform basic design/troubleshooting of SIP and Hosted PBX voice services.
Education and Experience

CCENT certification, Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, and two years of demonstrated job experience in appropriate telephony technologies. An equivalent combination of college study and experience may also be accepted.

Additional Information

This is a full time, hourly, non-exempt position with an outstanding benefit package which includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401K matching, and a pension program. Moving expenses provided per company policy. Additional benefit programs include applicable education and wellness reimbursements, a quarterly bonus program, service discounts, and a generous leave package (starting at 192 hours annually) along with ten paid holidays.

This is an IBEW 1547 Union represented position (need not be a current member to apply) and requires satisfactory results of a background check and drug screen (excluding marijuana). Starting wage for this position is $36.50 per hour, highly qualified applicants may be considered for advanced classifications (II, III) with a higher starting wage up to $62.58 per hour, depending on experience and education.
