Process Engineer

US – NV – Carson City

The Process Engineer must maintain and improve process controls through rigorous auditing of the processes and make significant improvements to safety, quality, and productivity.

Maintain the process through monitoring and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) in each area of responsibility

Audit all areas of responsibility daily to ensure operators are following written work instructions and working in compliance with the Operation and Process Control procedures (OPCs)

Audit all areas of responsibility daily to ensure all machines, equipment, and tools are working within specifications

Attend daily material review board (MRB) meetings to help to evaluate the root cause and corrective action for scrap

Design and implement fixturing, tools, and procedures for improving the processing of parts

Support production by addressing quality issues and working directly with manufacturing personnel to ensure the attainment of business goals

Ensures all work complies with environmental, health and safety standards, industry specifications, customer requirements, company standards, and related specifications

Updating, maintaining, and writing new Operation and Process Control procedures, purchasing specifications, part specific work instructions, and audit plans/reports

Maintaining databases associated with area of responsibility and perform data analysis when required

Improve measurements and capability for raw materials, input variables, process yields, and response variable using statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement methods. Focus on key departments metrics such as scrap, rework, and process yield

Work towards the continuous improvement of safety, quality, and productivity

Recommend and work on capital projects for equipment purchases and integration

Maintain database for incoming material certifications for areas of responsibility

Improve the use and integration of SPC tools and techniques to improve process predictability

Responsible for annual cost savings projects totaling 3x the employee’s salary

Identify and address safety considerations within the scope of their job responsibilities

Assist production, when necessary, to perform root cause analysis or troubleshooting in a structured way to address process or product nonconformities

Takes initiative in continuous learning and development within functional area

Hands on approach for identifying and eliminating process inefficiencies and constraints using various data analysis techniques (Theory of constraints (TOC), statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), 6 Sigma, etc.)

Develop and provide training on equipment or process when required

Submit work orders to maintenance when required

Other assigned tasks as necessary

Wax Area:
Responsible for the wax injection, wax rework, and wax assembly processes

Investment Area:
Responsible for the pattern wash, prime coating, back up coating, core packing, dewaxing, and insulation processes

Melt Area:
Responsible for the ingot cut, pre-burn, preheat, pouring, and mold cooling processes

Back End:
Responsible for the shell removal, gate removal, grinding, sand blasting, metal rework, and other post processing processes.

Effective and professional communication skills

Able to work effectively as part of a team and individually

Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, Operation and Process Control (OPC) procedures, and other professional documents

Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Goal oriented with desire to achieve desired results

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills

Ability to use data-based approach to analyze problems

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities under tight deadlines

Strong organizational and project management skills

Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma Tools

Understanding of the investment casting process or finishing metal work (i.e. metal cutting, grinding, welding, or machining)

Familiarity with inventory management systems (Visibility)

Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other modeling software.

Bachelor's degree (BA or BSc.) or higher in Engineering from four-year college or university

Previous experience with investment casting technology processes and manufacturing methods

3-5 years related technical experience
