Job Description:
The Layout Technician performs layout inspections using the most appropriate measurement tools including hand tools, light scanners, and the CMM to insure product quality and integrity. Utilizes laboratory instruments and equipment to help analyze, control, and minimize product variations. Write and run programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines and other inspection equipment that result in an accurate, detailed report format. Perform capability studies, GR&R's, and first piece approvals as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform dimensional inspection on CMM equipment and other measuring equipment to support daily production
Perform First Article Inspection of new product and new tooling
Maintain CMM programs
Create PC-DMIS programs for new product introduction
Use FARO Arm to scan parts as required and interpret results
Communicate CMM or scanning inspection results to Techs, Engineers, & Supervisors
Perform first piece approvals, as necessary.

Experience and Skills:
Post High School education in a specialized technical/scientific field preferred
Two to Three years experience in related field
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Basic knowledge of inspection technique, metrology, and GD&T
Familiar and experienced with shop gauging
Verbal and written communication skills to effectively present data and information
Detail Oriented
Perform duties with limited direction and guidance
Able to learn job duties in a fast paced environment and adapt to multiple changing priorities
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Knowledge and experience with PC-DMIS preferred
