Position Title: Electrical Engineer
Reports To: Manager of Electrical Engineering
Status: Regular Full-time
Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan
Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will be involved in supporting the continued development of a state-of-the-art battery systems. The Electrical Engineer can expect to perform many functions such as design, testing, investigation, research, and root cause analysis. The candidate can be expected to work with high voltage Li-ion battery systems and the applications they will be installed on. This position will require the candidate to have an aptitude for electronic/electrical design as well as some basic software development skills. The best fit for this position is a candidate that is self-driven, motivated, and ready to make an impact within our company. This position is for someone who is flexible and would like to develop themselves in many different disciplines of engineering. You will join an enthusiastic development team to deliver high-quality, robust products to our markets.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and evaluate electrical systems, electronic circuit boards, components, and applications, including schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout
Assure product quality by performing worst-case circuit analysis and DFMEAs, as well as developing testing methods and testing the components, circuits, and complete PCB assemblies
Maintain component and circuit design databases in ECAD development environments
Create and/or maintain design documents, process documents, and checklists
Release of designs for production, prototypes, and test equipment
Support the development of End of Line test equipment for printed circuit board assemblies for each of our product lines.
Support continuous development of telemetry systems
Assist fellow BMS (Battery Management System) engineers in design of experiments, lab test setups, and executions; support bug/defect tracking and reporting activities
Additional Support Responsibilities:
Works closely with System Engineers, Program Managers and Integration Engineers to ensure the Battery Management System design fulfills all functions necessary for the safe and effective operation of the host battery pack.
Assist in investigation trouble-shooting electrical hardware returned from field
Write embedded software for battery and testing applications
Prepare Hardware/Software interface specifications, performance specifications, diagnostic specifications, and product specifications.
Position Qualifications:
B.S. in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering
Mid-Level Position. Minimum 3-4 years relevant work experience is desired, or equivalent academic project experience will be considered
Key Competencies:
Experience with electronic/electrical design
Experience with test measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and differential voltage probes.
Experience with circuit simulation tools
Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, PCAD, Eagle, etc.)
Hands on experience with electronics or electrical systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
A high level of initiative and a proactive nature (Most important)
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Builds safety, quality and compliance into all actions; committed to continuous learning and self-improvement
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support on-site customer testing, debug, or sales/proposal activities
