Lead Applications Engineer / Global Product Manager

The Lead Applications Engineer / Global Product Manager plays a critical role as the primary technical interface for our customers. Cultivating strong relationships with sales, engineering, manufacturing they serve as the key technical advisor and product advocate responsible to deliver safe, reliable, and high performance solutions to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

This position blends strong technical skills with business acumen and excellent interpersonal skills. This hands-on role consists of surveying prospective opportunities and working with customers to define requirements, create high-level designs, and prepare proposals for custom battery systems. These solutions are delivered across all business verticals including marine, off highway, defense, and aerospace customers.

Your new role will:
Serve as an internal and external Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Spear’s battery solutions and customer applications
Lead product roadmap development across marine, off highway, defense, and aerospace vertical to maximize Spear, customer, and societal value creation
Lead proposals for battery systems emphasizing customer value propositions and Spear’s unique selling propositions (USPs)
Lead requirements definition for new internal research and development (R&D) projects and serve as the voice of the customer (VoC) throughout the product development process
Identify new energy storage technologies to increase Spear and customer value
Support battery system certification, integration, and commissioning, and training
Support business development via direct customer contacts, speaking at conferences, public policy engagement, and participating in industry working groups
Participate & lead cross functional teams to conduct Design Failure Mode Effects (and Criticality) Analyses (DFMEA), Root Cause Investigations, Functional Safety Hazard Analyses, and similar processes.

Spear is looking for:
Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or similar technical field required
5 years of experience in lithium ion batteries or related field strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop distributed teams strongly preferred
Experience with simulation tools like Matlab/Simulink strongly preferred
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools required
Familiarity with task management tools like Atlassian Jira preferred
