Apply your knowledge of engineering design and technical problem solving as an Entry-Level engineer/consultant within Barry-Wehmiller Design Group. As an entry-level engineer/consultant, you could travel to top clients across the country to assist in the design of manufacturing processes, help manage projects, develop facilities, and impact the world by conducting yourself with integrity in pursuit of your personal and professional goals. During your initial time frame within Design Group, you will get the opportunity to work with our consulting group in the office as well as on-site to assist with engineering, installation, start-up, and commissioning related activities. You will be accountable for all aspects of project execution including line layout engineering, mechanical design, vendor/contractor management, equipment procurement, schedule management, project finances, site management and installation support. This experience requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and requires the ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities. Support Design Group project teams and learn to interface with on-site and remote cross functional project teams, as well as with venders, contractors, and OEM’s to accomplish design, procurement, installation, and commissioning related phases of project scopes under mentorship of senior engineering consultants
Every entry-level position has a variety of tasks and responsibilities that they specifically focus on outlined below:
Process Engineering & Design: process mechanical design, process flow diagrams, piping & instrument drawings, pump sizing, mass & heat balances, manage integration of automation lines, develop material handling methods, engineering calculations, process equipment and installation specifications, etc.
Control System Integration: control panel design, PLC programming and HMI development, troubleshoot packaging and process machinery and line control systems, create user applications, onsite programming, automation applications, etc.
Facility Design & Construction Management: design electrical systems for buildings, HVAC system design, fire suppression systems, architecture of manufacturing facilities, structural drawings, construction drawings, resolve engineering change request notices, requests for information, and FCR’s, etc.
Co-Op/internship, part-time, full-time employment, or project experience related to engineering, consulting, programming, facility design, process design, drafting, or architecture are a plus
Co-Op/internship, part-time, full-time employment, or project experience in food/dairy, high speed beverage/brewery, pharmaceutical, medical device, advanced technology, oil & gas, or consumer products industries is preferred
Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities is preferred
Experience in the use of AutoCAD and/or Revit, SolidWorks, or 3D facility modeling software is preferred (either academic or professional)
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Power Point, Word, and Excel and basic understanding of project management fundamentals
Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to: project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc.
Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following majors: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural concentration), Architecture or equivalent related ABET certified degree plan.
Passing score on the Fundamentals Exam for EIT licensure will be required if you wish to become a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or licensed Architect.
