Manufacturing Engineer

The manufacturing engineer has two distinct roles: determine the optimal way to manufacture a customer's prints and to lead factory process improvements. As a custom manufacturer, Northern Mfg is challenged with producing an amazingly wide variety of products efficiently and cost effectively. The manufacturing engineer must find creative and inventive ways of using factory machine tools to produce these products. The engineer must then break down the assembly into parts for fabrication, and must communicate this information clearly to the production team.
The manufacturing engineer will also lead projects and process improvements. Example projects include managing the installation and deployment of new equipment, developing optimal process parameters for machinery, or using software facilitate automation of processes or repetitive tasks. The engineer will often become an expert on a specific process, and will be responsible for keeping up to date with the latest technological developments in this arena.

  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Windows
  • 3D CAD experience is required
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints is required

Job Type: Full-time
