DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is an on-the-job training program designed to develop your skills in the field of civil engineering. The work includes conducting feasibility studies; analyzing field conditions; and designing and/or constructing roads, bridges, buildings, dams, and flood control facilities. Once you successfully complete the training period, you will be promoted to a Civil Engineer.

As a Civil Engineer Trainee, you will feel satisfied knowing that your work helps to increase public safety in Pennsylvania!

Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to develop proficiency in the use of civil engineering knowledges, skills and abilities
Training may include introductory assignments in conducting preliminary feasibility studies; analyzing field conditions; or designing and/or constructing roads, bridges, buildings, dams, flood control facilities or similar projects
Some specialized assignments in traffic control, transportation planning, or hydraulics may also be incorporated into the training

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

PA residency requirement currently waived for this title

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or in a closely related field, which includes or was supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering;

or

Four years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training Certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;

or

An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an Engineer-in-Training Certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers,Land Surveyors and Geologists.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Certain positions in this job will require possession of a valid driver's license.
