Our Pet Segment is searching for a Manufacturing Technology Manager in our Council Bluffs, IA location. Serves as primary liaison between Manufacturing Operations and Technology Development divisions with the purpose of bringing new products to market.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Application of engineering and chemistry principles to define and solve complex problems regarding formulation and manufacturing processes both for ongoing operations (approximately 40% of effort) and new process development.
Planning, performing, and analyzing formal experiments using Industrial Design of Experiments and Mixture Designs
Designing safe manufacturing processes common to the formulation and packaging industry
Developing process monitoring measures by identifying critical process steps
Application of methods to reduce process variation in order to reduce/eliminate the cause of defects
Support toward installation, start up, validation and maintenance of processing equipment
Designing bench scale experiments to determine scale up criteria for pilot plant and subsequent full-scale production
Validation of full-scale production process (old and new) to benchmark capability
Responsible for serving as a liaison between Operations and Development Divisions (member of Technology Development Teams) regarding new products and processes (approximately 20% of effort).
Development of Primary Packaging specifications. Assist in the acquisition and testing of new packaging materials and machinery for ensuring optimization of cost, and chemical stability and durability in the distribution environment.
Designs secondary and tertiary packaging components to protect primary packages in transit.
Writes specifications for packaging components.
Assists in training, coaching and development of fellow engineers
Application and adherence to cGMP and GLP requirements
Engineering economic analysis
Communication with multi-disciplinary teams
Develop and implement facility maintenance programs to protect the health and safety of employees and visitors; facilitate departmental and individual work requirements, assure compliance with Regulatory and Central Life Sciences requirements.
Forecast facility projects for capital budgets; implement approved capital projects related to Council Bluffs facility.
Manage facility modification and expansion projects.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering.
5-10 years of applicable manufacturing, development and facility maintenance and/or construction management.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Primary working environment is an office, secondary is facility grounds and buildings.
