Danone NA is looking for a VP - R&I Packaging in Louisville, Co.

The VP R&I Packaging is responsible to lead a team responsible for packaging design and development across all Danone Business Units including Dannon, Oikos, Activia, Horizon, International Delight, So Delicious and Silk. The VP will partner with the Brand Teams to identify and deliver consumer centric winning product and packages to support the growth agenda. They will lead a team of packaging developers within the United States and Canada to create new packaging solutions, connecting with internal and external experts to bring new packaging technologies as well as product developers within US to create product solutions for the non-traditional retail channels.

In this role you will:
Manage and grow a staff of 6 direct reports and 25+ team members, including key SMEs in a hybrid -regional organizational model across several locations in the US and Canada
Lead the packaging structural innovation, productivity and sustainability strategy across all Danone US business units
Lead the channels product development strategy for all Danone BU’s
Accountable for the packaging team design and development of all Danone North America brands.
Drive R&I strategic product initiatives, innovation, renovation and productivity for the away from home space
Partner with marketing to deliver Brand Pipelines, Innovation, Renovation & Sustainability according to Business Goals and Strategies.
Lead the specialty channel packaging across North America with customer sales teams
Build consumer understanding capabilities and consumer centric design thinking within the packaging team
Ensure development of new technical & material concepts for packaging solutions via collaboration with internal and external experts to drive value and growth
Collaborate with companywide packaging Global internal network to drive efficiencies and share best practices
Drive sustainability packaging strategy and objectives.
Represent local packaging team within global network to leverage resources & knowledge to strengthen innovation and deliver profitable growth.
Drive the selection of key new vendors with procurement and maintain strong relationships with incumbents to continuously identify and deliver on innovative ideas
Collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders to support operational excellence within launch initiatives across both internal and external manufacturing facilities
Lead overall organization design for packaging

The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor degree minimum, Master degree in Sciences or Engineering ideal (Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering science)
15 plus years’ experience in a packaging engineering field (preferably in the food or beverage industry)
Demonstrated Leadership in cross functional teams involving marketing, sales, purchasing and manufacturing in the development of new products
Strategic thinking
Organizational design
Lateral thinking and problem solving
Technical competency and credibility
General knowledge of the processes within marketing, industrial design, production, supply chain and global sales channels;
Established project management skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver results by working autonomously with minimal supervision
Ability to create a roadmap for short term and long-term results
Excellent Project Management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent business skills and understand the levers of R&D
Self-starter, autonomous and demonstrated ability to bring new unsolicited ideas
Ability to travel approximately 25%
