Located at the Vitalis’ Manufacturing facility in Kelowna, BC and under the direction of the CTO and Engineering Manager, this role will be a Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager responsible for overseeing the engineering activities and projects.
Technical scope will encompass all areas of Vitalis’ engineering and design including mechanical, structural, pressure vessel, and process system design.
Developing and executing on approved project plans
Budget creation and adherence, time management, and cost tracking
Coordinate the work of technical staff, and develop and monitor project performance
Assign, collect and coordinate appropriate project resources
Organize and conduct project meetings
Liaise with clients and other potentially involved stakeholders
Manage, supervise and coordinate subcontractors
Execute design projects for prototyping or production.
Ensure drawings, designs, and BOM’s are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards
Contribute to and assist in the management of production CAD database(s)
Facilitate and execute engineering change orders (ECO)
Maintain engineering master data completeness and accuracy (item data, BOM, routings)
Assist in managing and developing design standards and libraries
Optimize component, product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability
Identify opportunities to eliminate expenses that do not add value to the process or product, and within the scope of authority of the position, implement the reduction
Work “hands-on” with manufacturing to resolve any problems encountered in the fabrication and construction of experimental or production machines
Assist other departments in preparation of manuals and sales literature on assigned projects
Correspond with suppliers and customers when required to support supply chain and sales processes
Maintain knowledge of relevant design and construction codes
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
Project Management designation would be an asset
Minimum of 5 years related experience
Previous working experience with 3D CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks
Working knowledge of MS Office programs
Basic knowledge of domestic and international standards and regulations an asset
Excellent interpersonal skills
Willingness to support and assist in the growth and development of the company and engineering/design department as a lean organization
Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly evolving and growing environment where responsibilities and position scope may change
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Must have Canadian citizenship or work visa for Canada
