Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager Maintenance and Engineering, the Plant Engineer performs engineering work for the Brookings, SD plant in compliance with normal engineering practices, ensures overall consistency to Group rules while keeping within budgetary restraints and timelines. This position is also responsible for utilities management and delivering requested engineering technical solutions and cost estimates to support the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project ownership including project initiation, pre-project planning and project engineering with appropriate analysis.
Quantify solutions, analyze project feasibility, participate in design, and participate installations of designed solutions
Project supervision including written proposals, manage execution, cost and deadlines, and performance management of vendors.
Capital goods purchasing in conjunction with purchasing department.
Financial management including preparing Capex investment forms and developing budget with facility management and zone.
Follows Group project management methods.
Complies with State and Federal regulatory requirements in addition to FSSC 22000, HACCP, ISO 14001, OHSAS 180001, OSHA and other quality and safety systems.
Implement and monitor KPIs.
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy.
Follows all Safety Rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others.
Follow all food safety procedures.
Follows all environmental protocols as applicable to the job.
Active member of the Safety Team.

Knowledge/Education:
Requires a Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other related field.
3+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing settings preferred.
Engineering experience in dairy or food manufacturing is preferred.
Requires strong computer skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as knowledge in integrated systems such as AutoCAD and SAP preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations required
Demonstrated budgeting, vendor management and administering professional contracts/agreements required.
Demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills.
Spanish and/or French language translation skills a PLUS.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in Brookings SD manufacturing environment. Hours of work will generally be during regular plant business hours with a minimum 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines and other concerns. Position is based in Brookings, SD with occasional travel for buisness needs.
