Stryker is seeking to hire a Project Engineer, New Product Development to support Stryker’s Spine Division. This role is hybrid, and candidates can be located Leesburg, VA or Allendale, NJ.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As the Project Engineer, New Product Development, you will be responsible for performing implant and instrument design work, leading small projects, and actively participating on multi-functional teams to advance assigned projects through the design/development process through launch to the market. Will have an opportunity to cross-train within the spine division to promote visibility and develop an area of expertise.

Interface with surgeons to gather input for design and evaluation of new products.
Utilize knowledge of surgical procedures to develop innovative solutions that satisfy customer needs.
Under minimal supervision, works with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success.
Under minimal supervision designs, develops, modifies, evaluates and verifies mechanical components for medical devices.
Quickly process and assimilate procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.
Participate in and lead, as applicable, design reviews.
Works on complex problems, applying advancing experience and learnings.
Demonstrates ownership and prioritizes work with minimal supervision.
Works as key member of the team, collaborating with others and solidifying relationships.
Learn how the financial models are constructed.
Follow fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which apply to regulatory requirements.
Independently create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file.
Follow R&D procedure like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
Under minimal supervision, research, design, develop, modify, and verify components/modules for medical devices.
Translate design inputs to engineering specifications and produce sub-system level designs.
Develop and analyze solutions, prototyping one or more options to provide proof of concept.
Apply fundamental and some advanced concepts, practices and procedures for problem solving.
Prepare and review information for invention disclosures and patent applications.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Required

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering - Required.
Good technical communication skills to communicate basic plans and technical information to team members.

Preferred:
Technical ability to create engineering drawings and models, applying GD&T and CAE tools.
Experience with a parametric CAD package, (ProE, Creo or SolidWorks preferred).
2+ years of work experience.
Familiarity with design controls within a regulated industry.
Basic project management skills.
Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
