Stanley Engineered Fastening is looking for an Smart factory engineer to spearhead projects at the plant level introducing and implementing Industry 4.0 technologies. This will include automation, robotics, IIOT, and any other innovative Industry 4.0 technologies across SEF regional business units. This position will Be at the forefront of understanding and implementing state of the art technologies in these areas and be able to implement into the world of Engineered Fastening.
The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker who can both understand automation/robotics in manufacturing, be able to look a true capability and identify the right place to implement it. A great communicator that can work across diverse team inside and outside the business. The ability to think outside of the box and embrace change will be critical to the success of this role.
Automation and Robotic systems are becoming increasingly flexible and intelligent, adapting their behavior automatically to maximize output or minimize cost per unit. Many of these systems have been paramount in achieving significant productivity increases and cost savings. Automation is also not limited to equipment, and can be utilized to dramatically improve business practices, and process as well.
Lead the development and deployment of Agile Automation Production Systems and other Industry 4.0 technology.
Drive the regions capability to analyze and evolve the systems to ensure constant improvement is maintained at the highest level
Lead the local strategy in making the right automation decisions based on solid evaluation practices
Ensure the factories in the regions have the best access to advice and the latest technological thinking and possible solutions.
Partner with the COE team to ensure standardization and best practices are followed throughout the businesses.
Develop the strategies for implementing advances in new emerging technologies
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Utilizes Industry 4.0 elements to improve processes and productivity. Develops proof of concept and then scales up to production levels locally and cross plant.
Analyzes data and trends to identify problems and opportunities and makes recommendations to reduce gaps.
Lead the development and deployment of Automation and Robotic Systems and lead the study of ergonomically designed interventions that can operate safely in proximity to people.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
Develops and prepares formal cost justifications for purchase of Capital Equipment
Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment and purchase of equipment.
Leads Kaizen events and teams to solve problems and provide for productivity
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with focus on Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Ability to interact with Automation and Robotic systems to review product design and specifications
Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
Experience with PLC programming and ladder logic.
3D/2D CAD (Solidworks / AutoCAD)
Ability to read Blueprints, Electrical/Hydraulic Schematics
Understanding of GD&T
Create project timelines and manage project budgets
Preparing capital equipment justifications and requests
Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques and the latest technology advances
Understanding of Finite Element Analysis techniques for design optimization
Ability to work across multiple teams to build consensus and drive decision making
Project management skills to define, manage and deliver projects
