General Summary:
Benchmark Space Systems, a leader in small satellite propulsion systems and in-space mobility services, is seeking a full-time Quality Engineer to join our growing team. Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. This role is based out of Benchmark's Burlington, VT facility.
This position is part of a small team responsible for quality control and product assurance that Benchmark and its suppliers are delivering quality products in accordance with industry and internal standards.
Responsibilities:
Reviews design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products
Ensures products meet the organizations and customers quality and product integrity requirements
Supports product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process
Identifies root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures
Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects
Developing and implementing quality standards
Developing and implementing quality control systems
Monitoring and analyzing quality performance
Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met
Collaborating with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements
Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations
Investigating and troubleshooting product or production issues
Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements
Reviewing codes, specifications, and processes
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
BS in Engineering, Math, or Physics or related field
3+ years in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent project management skills
MS Office and report writing background
Root cause analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role in an aerospace or defense contractor environment
Certified Quality Engineer certification
IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications
Lean or Six Sigma Training
Background in SPC
