Recommend, initiate and implement measures for further development of Evonik production and operations processes to maintain and ensure state of the art process technology and operation management methodologies in order to minimize costs, provide high product quality and to maximize plant and product availability for defined Evonik business groups and affiliates. Incumbent will promote and maintain the principles of and responsibilities related to Responsible Care within his/her assigned areas of responsibility and as defined in the RC 14001 management system
Provide technical and methodological assistance to defined production and operations areas (e.g. increase of a plant’s availability, reduction of investment and production/logistics/administrative costs, debottlenecking, quality improvement, etc.)
Find and recommend concepts for expansions, quality increase, production availability, operations management, etc. with responsibility for the basic process information and for all aspects of safety and environmental protection within small-scale projects
Obtain process development or process improvement activities from Evonik business lines.
Provide, organize, and coordinate technical support in basic engineering, detail engineering, construction and commissioning of production processes.
Prepare basic process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, Equipment Specifications) on capital projects and/or service requests.
Independently completes assigned technical assignments.
Support projects with universities/research institutes/equipment manufacturers to find advanced, more efficient technologies and methodologies.
Provide exchange of information with other Evonik plants in order to utilize these valuable resources for improvements and collaborate on a global basis with other departments within Process Technology & Engineering.
Discuss, analyze, and define proposals, based on client objectives, for engineering scope and cost estimates for capital investment projects.
Act in assigned roles within capital investment projects (Lead Process Engineer or Process Engineer).
Support development of new process engineering service offerings that provide value to clients.
Must be able to work independently while reporting the primary results of his activities to his/her supervisor.
Excellent cooperation with production, technical and operations departments within the Business Lines.
BS or MS degree in chemical engineering or an equivalent degree with 3 - 6 years’ experience in process technology and/or operations management, as well as in Evonik’s manufacturing processes.
3+ years of experience with process techniques in mechanical and thermal processes, process design, manufacturing technology, automation of processes and/or methodologies of operations management.
The position may require relocation to another plant site for a restricted time period.
Human relation skills with emphasis on verbal and written communication.
Must be able to work and excel in a project team environment and adapt to variable situations.
