STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER
O’Brien & Gere is seeking a Structural Project Engineer in the Syracuse, NY office who will work under the direct supervision of structural engineering staff. The candidate will perform technical work including, but not limited to, the following:
The Project Engineer is responsible for timely and accurate completion of projects that are of average complexity or completion of portions of projects that are above average complexity. This is a position for a person who has passed the FE exam and plans to pursue Professional Engineering licensure. The Project Engineer utilizes verbal and written communication skills to maintain a close relationship with project team members and clients from proposal through construction phase. The ideal candidate will have structural design experience with municipal and/or industrial clients. The Project Engineer is responsible for duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:
Executes assignments requiring a good knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work.
Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations and preparation of Contract Documents.
Maintains routine communications with the project team members during proposal, design and construction phases of a project. Periodically reviews schedule and budget of projects under their supervision.
Prepares proposals and conducts efforts supporting business development activities.
Performs detailed checking of completed work performed under their direct supervision.
Visits job sites to review work in progress, gain field experience, and advance practical engineering skills.
Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience.
Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis software - Required.
Experience with Autodesk Revit - Preferred.
Has successfully passed the FE exam.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Work effectively in teams.
Gains knowledge through participation in technical societies and attendance at internal and external training programs.
