A Little About Us
The Data Center Facilities Team is responsible for all Electrical and Mechanical systems including Utility Substation, Generator and Diesel Sets, UPS System Operations, Power Distribution Systems and all aspects of critical and essential power to the entire Data Center.
A Lot About You
You will be responsible for maintaining and operating all Verizon Media Data Center Cooling systems to include Chillers, Yahoo Thermal Cool and Yahoo Computing Coupe systems to ensure proper operations of all
cooling systems. You will also be responsible for maintaining all electrical distribution systems, fire/life safety systems, and auxiliary systems. You will be directly responsible for managing vendor relationships for all power and cooling system maintenance, service, and repairs.
Data Center Facilities Engineers provide onsite shift coverage and play a key operational role for ensuring 24x7x365 operation of the data center:
Establishes and executes procedures, standards, and technical training related to HVAC and electrical
equipment operations and maintenance
Ability to operate all data center facility equipment according to procedures
Schedule and oversee periodic inspections and routine maintenance of all data center equipment
Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical problems within the data center
Direct electrical and mechanical trades within data center facilities for corrective maintenance, and
Supervise sub-contractors and ensure all necessary preventative maintenance and emergency
repairs are scheduled and performed
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of infrastructure supporting data center operations
Manage work orders and equipment history via Computerized Maintenance Management System
Respond to facilities emergencies as required
You Must Have
Demonstrated experience with critical HVAC, generators, fire detection/suppression, UPS systems,
building control systems, and safe work practices
Perform all physical duties as required, including the abilities to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to
handle, feel, and reach with both hands and arms. The ability to talk and hear, climb or balance,
stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50
The ability to use a computer and smart phone for work completion and alarm response including
the use of office software.
The ability to work with a variety of people to complete work tasks and projects.
