Establish and maintain relationships with Architects, Owners, Engineers, Designers, Consultants and others for potential business development
Build positive relationships with Subcontractors and Vendors to enhance RGC’s potential to win bids and successfully complete projects
Advise and assist in preparing conventional bids and negotiated estimates to submit to Owners
Define deliverables and acceptable timelines for each bid
Solicit and maintain communication with Subcontractors and Vendors
Prepare Subcontractor bid packages, perform quantity take-offs and detail sheets
Participate on the Procurement Team in receiving and evaluating Subcontractor quotes and major material quotes from Vendors prior to and on bid day
Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions on every bid
Perform a comprehensive bid day analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades
Work as the lead estimator on selected projects including takeoffs, pricing, bid summaries, etc.
Submit 100% of bids and budgets by the deadline
Develop RFI’s and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontract coverage
Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with Architect, Owner and/or Construction Manager
Assist in the review of project bid’s accuracy and communication of construction techniques and strategies used in bid preparation on successful bids with the Project Management Team prior to project commencement; highlight any issues
Actively participate in project transition/handoff meetings with RGC Project Management Team for successful estimates
Work with the Project Management Team to properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information in a timely manner
Review drawings and job cost with Project Management Team and highlight any Subcontractors and/or Vendors that still need to be awarded
Attend team meetings and prepare scope review for Subcontractors
Continues to develop and maintain RGC’s Subcontractor/Vendor database so that it is complete and accurate
Effectively communicate with Subcontractors and/or Vendors throughout the pre-construction process, evaluate proposals and ensure the accuracy of scope of work and pricing
Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related
2 – 5 years of experience within a pre-construction/estimating environment working at a commercial general contractor
Excellent interpersonal, communication, team and collaboration skills. Sees connections. Great analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and organization skills
Pays attention to details, prioritizes work and manages time well. Highly organized
Proficiency in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
Experience with preconstruction software (such as RS Means, Timberline, Onscreen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Building Connected, etc.)
Valid Driver’s License

This position has supervisory responsibilities for Auburn Office Procurement Interns from time to time.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting, and from time to time, on a construction site setting.
Able to deal with the physical activities associated with an office environment (hear and talk, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands)
Able to navigate work areas under construction
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel to RGC job sites and other RGC offices required.
