Arcimoto is in search of a Mechanical Engineer II who will work at the front end of design and development, work in an iterative environment to study, simulate, build, and prove successful or unsuccessful Arcimoto's vehicle design concepts. This is a mechanical design engineering position where product design expertise and fundamental, first principles approach to problem solving are far more important than extensive project engineering or automotive industry specific experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Initial concept, to design, release, and development of Vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and investment
Establish system architecture and functional feasibility
Support creation of component specification, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents
Work with the Design team to resolve feasibility issues
Develop parametric design concepts and production designs in Solidworks.
Ensure product conforms to all market regulations governing assigned systems
Interface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, validation, and other engineering activities as specified for the assigned commodity.
Analyze CAE results and integrate recommendations into product designs
Note that in most cases, Arcimoto Vehicle Engineering will design commodities in-house.
Support vehicle milestones including prototype, pre-production, and production build event
Deliver world-class craftsmanship, fit/finish and support for successful production launch
Facilitate research that tests or analyzes the automotive design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
Consult with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
Comprehend and interpret technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports
Establish or test models of alternate automotive designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification.
Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
5+ years of related experience
BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (MSME preferred)
Proficiency in Solidworks using parametric elements and knowledge-based engineering tools

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
