With several location opportunities in Louisiana, the Plant Engineer provides engineering support to Cleco’s fleet of over 7,000 MW of power generation. This position plays a critical role in developing and managing technical support programs to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of Cleco’s generating assets. The successful candidate must be able to:
Apply engineering principles and practices to identify, analyze, and diagnose problems, and develop solutions.
Identify and implement reliability improvements focused on increased equipment availability and reduced life cycle cost.
Provide technical specifications for repairs and component replacements, project development & management, budget development & management, contractor management & tracking, outage planning & support, and root cause failure analyses.
Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance departments on resolution of issues concerning facilities and equipment.

Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical preferred) from an ABET-approved curriculum.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.
The salary range will be commensurate with experience.
The minimum experience required of the position is as follows:
FE Certification preferred.
at least 3 years of applicable and progressive experience.
at least 5 years of applicable and progressive experience.
at least 10 years of applicable and progressive experience.
Not an automatic progression, 15 years of related experience and considered by those in the utility industry and/or though out Cleco as an expert in their field.
Possesses a solid working knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, principles, practices and procedures, while continuing to acquire a higher level of engineering knowledge and skill.
Can perform a broad range of moderately complex engineering work with minimal supervision and limited technical guidance.
Is able to effectively articulate ideas, thoughts, and solutions and responds to others on standard engineering issues.
Develops and completes tasks and projects in a timely manner and within budget.
Effectively applies engineering principles and standard procedures to identify, analyze, and resolve technical problems.
