What we’re looking for:
In all seriousness, we are a well-established, yet small, company with a tremendous opportunity for the right individual. Kuryakyn is looking for a detail-oriented, creative solution-finder to join our riding team as an Electrical Engineer. This position will be responsible for conceiving, developing, designing, and testing lighting, controls, infotainment, and other electrical products. To accomplish this, the position requires continual research on trends, regulations, and product use in concert with exceptional technical skills and creative talents to create functional and appealing products.

While working as an Electrical Engineer, some of the main things you will do include:

Design verification
Design documents to meet company guidelines/requirements.
ECN/DOT compliant.
Verify fit, form & function of electrical and lighting products.
Ensure 3D CAD layouts created by a mechanical engineer include all required components and sufficient clearances exist between interfaces.
Ensure that 2D drawings created by a mechanical engineer from 3D models show critical dimensions & tolerances, surface finishes, material & finish callouts and other critical information.
Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics. Assure manufacture ability of designs.

Process Improvement & Innovation
Develop testing & validation plans for products where necessary.
Work with technical publications to ensure installation instructions are correct.
Support the modification or revision of current designs to correct deficiencies, reduce warranty claims and/or improve product.
Develop/review standards and/or specifications as required.
Research/develop new processes to keep at the forefront of motorcycle lighting and electronics accessory technology.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Provide technical assistance to customer service/customer care/tech support to ensure the customer gets the best answer possible when they have a problem.
Confer with product management team, engineering, marketing, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
Present product evaluations and design reports to approval committees.
Recommend manufacturing procedures and assure the manufacturability of designs to improve and exceed product quality.
Participate in new product planning reviews.

Work with suppliers when revisions are necessary (due to design changes) or requested by supplier to aid manufacturability.

Working knowledge of motorcycle electrical and lighting systems (CANBUS), motorcycle riding, and the environmental conditions they operate in.
Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements related to motorcycle electrical and lighting systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of electronics manufacturing & assembly process. Must able to provide recommendations for most economical, robust, and manufacturing-friendly process for the specific application.
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, Schematic Editor, and programming Microprocessors experience; SolidWorks is a plus.
Ability and desire to take responsibility for one’s own performance and be focused on delivering results the right way.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion in both the written and spoken word.

To qualify, you must have:
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Motorcycle Operators License. Riders Safety Course is a plus or be willing to take a riding class.
