Duties and Responsibilities
Performs basic engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of higher-level engineers in the development of system and technical products. Typically employs established guidelines and instructions, and limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.
Duties often include the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and engineering computations, measurements and analyses. Exhibits the ability to independently perform basic data validation and troubleshooting.
Has some independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of more senior technical personnel.
Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines.
Provides systems engineering support using AutoCAD software understanding basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools with knowledge of the workspace and user interface. Abilities with managing layers and layer properties along with advanced drawing tools and features is desired.
Develops PECPs, WFC Packages, Work Items, and Admin Packages; develops response rationale for Condition Reports, Trial Cards, Waivers, Deviations and Contract Letters.
Supports meetings for all items identified above as required, including but not limited to Weekly HM&E Team meetings with the customer and other adhoc meetings.
Provides coordination/liaison with other Government agencies and commercial companies to address and resolve technical issues.
Conducts travel to outside activities and participate in shipboard trial events upon Government approval.
Develops briefing materials that give the status of cost, schedule, and performance.
Evaluates HM&E (Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical) design changes for value as product improvements including the verification of design adequacy.
Performs travel to outside activities and provides: trip reports, scheduling, documentation, reporting of meetings, briefings, studies, presentations, reports and point papers, data and correspondence files.
Prepares PECP packages with supporting material.
Provides trial card response rationale and all reference material to support position developed during trial card research, screening, and adjudication from all trial events.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree plus 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience. Degree must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
Experience using AutoCAD software, to include basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools along with knowledge of the work-space and user interface is required. Abilities with managing layers and layer properties along with advanced drawing tools and features is desired.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Security Clearance.
