The Citizens Bank Engineering Academy is dedicated to empowering engineers and architects who will solve complex business processes using cutting-edge technologies and an Agile development approach.
The Engineering Academy brings engineers and architects from across the bank to an immersive learning experience. The various programs include formal training components, hands-on engineering application, close intersections with the business and shared experiences with multiple thought leaders from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.
The Citizens Engineering Academy aims at providing a world-class learning experience to create future engineering leaders, visionaries & innovators and enable them the opportunity to experiment, sharpen skills and explore areas of interest. Our vision is to produce “multi-dimensional” engineers & architects who will solve real world problems and provide our customers and colleagues with best in class, differentiate solutions.
Primary responsibilities include:
Development, delivery, and refinement of curriculums to accelerate the banks digital transformation capabilities
Mentor and coach engineers and architects on problem solving techniques and delivery using new technologies and frameworks (e.g. springboot, kafka, kubernetes, etc.)
Guide the participants through solution architecture and development of a real world business problem for the bank
Serve as a role model engineer, practicing strong engineering hygiene and practices throughout the Academy experience
Work closely with engineers to drive learning, adapting coaching style as needed
8+ years of software development or solutions architecture experience
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to deliver virtual and in-person classroom trainings on complex technical subjects and coach participants through challenges and debugging
Hands-on experience with end-to-end software development of complex multi-tiered systems
Experience with multiple IT disciplines with a confirmed understanding of relevant architectural concepts
Experience developing and delivering curriculums based on modern engineering practices, tools and approaches
Experience building cloud-native applications
Experience defining and building microservices
Experience with API’s
Experience in the financial services industry; understanding of the role of consumer and custodial banks
UI/UX experience, including relevant web/application branding techniques
Strong understanding of adult learning theory and practices
Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related foreign discipline required
