The Applications Engineer will be responsible for completing assigned projects in the areas of product maintenance, product development or technical support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluates all aspects of offered product mountings on various chassis. This may include bodies on chassis; added options (e.g. lift gates, hitches, Generators, Brake Retarders, Aftermarket Suspension Systems, etc.)
Identifies and documents best practices and mounting procedures.
Issues and maintains mounting instructions, recommendations, best practices, engineering bulletins and product updates related to mounting procedures.
Completes product maintenance and product development projects when required.
Chassis Library Maintenance Control.
Responsible for defining and interpreting product quality requirements relative to chassis application.
Communicates and coordinates with OEM’s and suppliers where engineering input is required to develop specifications for products and/or components, as well as perform reviews of OEM Bulletins
Assists designers and drafters with required engineering expertise to complete design activities
Verifies correctness and communicates engineering BOM’s changes as required.
Prepares drawings and assists in creation of final design, bills of material, ECN’s, and ECO’s as required.
Supports manufacturing initiatives to provide customers in expedited fashion with quality and high performance products while improving internal metrics.
Resource for sales team and customers regarding questions with body and chassis interface.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
College Degree Major Desired: Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:
Knowledge and/or training courses specific for this position:
Knowledge of FMVSS standards
Experience with 3D-CAD preferably in SolidWorks
Experience using AS400
Skills specific for this position:
Print and specification reading and interpretation
Understanding of vehicle system and body interactions
Logical problem solving skills with a sense of urgency
Experience specific for this position:
Working with issues encountered in chassis and body interface
Product design, stress analysis and strength materials experience preferred
