The Systems, Support & Analytics Advanced Learning Team is looking for a qualified highly motivated Software Engineer to work in a research and development (R&D) capacity developing Advanced Learning technologies for internal and external customers.
The selected individual will be working on the cutting edge of training technology. This includes a focus on virtual and augmented reality for pilot or maintenance training, applying data analytics to training, and Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training technologies. The LVC piece focuses on the fusion of Live platforms within a Virtual and Constructive synthetic environment (LVC) for tactical aviation. This includes development of infrastructure to support mission operations at various military air bases. The position entails up front research/experiments, software/product development, prototyping, integration, test, delivery, and demonstration to the customer.
The individual is expected to develop and maintain code and integrate software components into fully functional software systems with guidance from a senior engineer. The software engineer develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics. More specifically he or she should be able to help develop software, develop verification plans, assist with test procedures, and document and demonstrate test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Supporting software project management and software supplier management functions is also expected. He or she also develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics with guidance. In addition the individual will execute and document software research and development projects. The software engineer may also perform software research and trade studies when necessary.
Candidates should show innovation, initiative, and technical competency in performing their job. Candidates should have the ability to network and make contacts with suppliers and customers. Candidate should be able to wear and operate a VR/AR device. The successful candidate is expected to work under general supervision from a senior engineer. Since this is an R&D environment, the individual must be comfortable working non-structured development under varying and sometimes loose requirements with a focus on innovation and the art of the possible.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry by Dec 2019
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Software Technologies: Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), HLA, TENA, UCI, WebLVC, UMP, cloud platforms
Classroom or work related programming experience with any of the following software development languages/ Ada, C, C++, C#, JAVA,
Synthetic Environments: Netforce, BigTac, NGTS, etc.
Simulation Environment experience
Boeing Infrastructure & Networking frameworks/libraries: CSF, DisEngine, DSAC, etc.
Configuring IP networks
Training/Advanced Learning familiarity
Experience with Data Analytics
AR/VR and/or Mobile Device Development Experience
Experience working in an Agile environment
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
