Manufacturing Engineer – Board Operations
The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved with increasing the effectiveness of the asset group and will be responsible for supporting paper making machines. They will also focus on improving reliability, work processes, equipment performance and team member capabilities within the board machines operations area. This position reports to the Naheola Board Mill Operations Production Leader.
ABOUT THE NAHEOLA OPERATIONS
Georgia-Pacific’s Naheola Mill located in Pennington, Alabama, is a manufacturing site for the company’s well-known consumer products business. More than 900 employees produce a wide range of products for the consumer business, including Angel Soft® bath tissue and Sparkle® paper towels, as well as bleached paperboard used in Dixie® paper cups and plates.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Create and lead an environment where the team achieves zero incidents in Environmental, Health and Safety. Ensure excellence with the safety systems of the board mill assets.
Lead and mentor employees to apply MBM® in ways that are consistent with our Guiding Principles.
Lead the implementation of complete asset strategies and operator basic care execution.
Lead the effort to identify, investigate, recommend and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve productivity, yield, quality and/or reduce costs.
Challenge the status quo to facilitate continuous improvement.
Collaborate across roles and diverse groups that include Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance to gather information and share feedback.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Engineering
Three (3) or more years of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment in a role responsible for supporting production processes
Experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook?
Ability to work extended hours when necessary and serve on a week-end duty team on a rotational basis.
What Will Put You Ahead?
Three (3) or more years of experience in an engineering/technical role supporting coated and/or uncoated paperboard machines
Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools
Equipment and/or manufacturing systems reliability experience
Experience with controls design and strategies for paperboard machines
