Intermountain Electronics, Inc., is seeking a Civil/Mechanical Engineer located in our Denver, CO, facility. Intermountain Electronics (IE) is a leading provider of custom engineered and manufactured process and electrical systems to the mining, oil & gas, and power/utility industries in North America. IE’s turnkey products are generally mobile - mounted on skids or in portable e-houses. Our products include portable power/generators, substations, electrical control rooms (MCCs/VFDs/switchgear), water-flood/disposal buildings, compressor skids, metering equipment, mining power skids, and other products used in the energy, oil & gas, and mining sectors.
This individual will be responsible for:
Designing building structures.
Designing piping systems, P&ID's, and general layouts.
Working with Electrical and Process engineer to integrate general arrangement for equipment into the building design.
Creating bill of materials for all designs.
Develop engineering designs for transportable structures, components, and electromechanical assemblies that have tough requirements for size, precision, reliability and cost.
Use 3D modeling and 2D drawings to complete physical and mechanical designs, details, drawings, and layouts for manufactured equipment.
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application; Consults with Cost Estimators and Project Managers to calculate cost and determine feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data.
Complete structural or mechanical analysis of steel fabricated buildings and manufactured equipment in compliance with AISC, IBC, and other applicable codes.
Interface with the Production Manager, shop floor supervisors, and Project Managers to coordinate, or monitor the technical aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs.
Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or closely related field with at least
three plus years experience in the design of custom buildings or skids related to power distribution, fluid metering, or other
automated process applications in the oil and gas industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency to achieve high quality results through continual attention to detail and anticipation of potential problems during the early planning and design review stages.
Proficient using 2D CAD and 3-D Solid Modeling software (AutoCAD and Solid Edge/ Solid Works preferred), Excel, MSWord and Outlook. Experience with finite element analysis software a plus (RISA, ANSYS, ect.)
Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills
Good understanding of the relationship between product design and manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
Proven ability to work successfully with a cross-functional team.
