This position will serve as the primary technical representative for the new E-coat system. The E-coat Engineer will provide an advanced technical support and leadership to all areas of the plant in assessment, implementation and support of E-coat equipment.
Serves as a technical leader and supports operations management in all areas.
Perform waste treatment testing and operation daily.
Monitor all E-Coat Systems throughout the day.
Oversees E-coat machine operation and maintenance.
Direct any required maintenance on the related building or equipment as needed.
Work closely with maintenance techs including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Read and interpret equipment manuals to execute desired outcome.
Identify regular preventive maintenance activities on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
Oversee rack maintenance
Serve as the technical expert in the Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintenance of production and facility equipment
Collaborates with suppliers on quoting process description, cost, and lead times.
Works with hourly team members, quality engineers, HSE, and operations to improve, safety, quality, productivity, and reduce scrap.
Develops, maintains, and presents performance reports as needed.
Assists with troubleshooting process and machine downtime issues.
Monitors and implements procedures, work instructions and first piece prints for manufacturing areas.
Designs, refines and improves equipment / processes.
Serves as a leader and mentor regarding safety policies and procedures. Operates all machinery, tools, and equipment in accordance with company safety policies.
Interfaces with suppliers to coordinate action on failure issues on parts and services.
Works weekend and off shift hour support as required based on business needs.
Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to safety, health, and environmental concerns.
Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to product quality.
22. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
2 - 4 years experience with e-coat systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics and troubleshooting of.
Experience using software driven controls:
Programmable Logic Controllers, Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000, Siemens Step 7, Robotics (Fanuc), Vision Systems (Cognex), and process control systems including torque, position, and force control preferred.
Experience in many aspects of industrial maintenance and preventive maintenance practices
Strong mechanical aptitude
Experience troubleshooting PLC controlled assembly equipment and automated conveyor systems
Training in SDS sheets and Lockout-Tagout
Knowledge of various material-handling equipment an asset
Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace
Familiarity with air and waste regulatory requirements a plus
Must be able to interpret schematics.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Statistical evaluation software familiarity a plus.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles is required.
