The engineer I,II, or senior electrical engineer-system operations, provides specific engineering services in support of MidAmerican Energy Company's electric system operations. Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within projects and assisting engineering staff on more complex projects.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Assist with studies to provide recommendations for the real time operations of MidAmerican Energy Company's transmission and distribution systems using various power flow software packages and the Energy Management System Network Analysis Applications. Assist with preparation of operating guides, emergency plans, system capacity data, and other documentation and assistance to support the real time operation of the MidAmerican Energy Company's transmission and distribution systems. (60%)
Assist with formulating, evaluating, selecting, developing and implementing new or revised systems and procedures. (15%)
Provide engineering services, system design and coordination on system operations projects. (15%)
Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business. Represent system operations on both internal and external committees. (10%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
Perform additional duties as requested or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
For the engineer II position, one to three years related experience, in addition to a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, is required.
Five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license then must have eight or more years as a practicing engineer.
