VIA Motors is looking for an enthusiastic person to lead battery CAE development, ranging from the validation of components, subsystems to integration into full vehicles. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. This is your opportunity to join our growing team and be involved at the forefront of electric vehicle technology development.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Working with VIA and its external engineering partners;
Develop full vehicle level durability CAE analysis plans
Develop propulsion (Drive unit and battery system) CAE plans based on the needs from the design team and vehicle development teams
Coordinate chassis, body, interior and other subsystem durability models and report results in a timely manner
Manage durability CAE budget
Develop component CAE models for durability, fatigue and structural efficiency
Lead problem solving in vehicle general durability and component durability tests
Support durability and component structure tools development
Manage relationships with external ESPs and test labs
Contribute to the engineering discussions to improve vehicle system performance
Uses CAE to lead the vehicle design while balancing all applicable performance requirements for a specific area of responsibility
Performs Computer-Aided Engineering simulations to evaluate vehicle component, subsystem and system performance using industry standard software and is capable of handling all load cases, including the most complex.
Generates sound and timely technical solutions to meet durability performance targets outlined in the Vehicle Technical Specifications, Subsystem Technical Specifications and balances NVH, safety and Thermal requirements based on the results of vehicle testing.
Generates feasible vehicle design recommendations and works with engineering functions, program teams, suppliers, manufacturing, and others to implement design changes as required to achieve vehicle performance.
Conducts optimization studies by utilizing optimization CAE tools, including DOE/ DFSS techniques to optimize vehicle designs to meet performance requirements while minimizing mass and cost.
Uses advanced CAE tools and methods to optimize systems like battery packs, drive units and structures. Works with other CAE and test teams to achieve vehicle program goals.
Attends rig testing, component testing and post-test teardowns as the Vehicle Proving Grounds to interpret measurements, conduct analysis, and correlate CAE to test results.
Works with people around the world in a global and collaborative environment.
