This position is responsible for a wide range of engineering activities, include assuming the project lead role in the implementation of new products from the quotation stage to implementation through management of the APQP process. Accountable for developing and maintaining project budgets for new product implementation. Development of jigs and machinery for new products and utilizing CAD or outside resources to ensure customer schedules are met. Investigation and development of new technologies for implementation into production.
Will utilize the APQP process as project leader for implementation of new products and processes into production.
Actively participate in yearly planning activities (manpower, budget, capacity).
Initiate product and process design review and recommend changes.
Actively participate in the internal audit system for the IATF and ISO-14001 systems.
Work to develop strong relationships with both customers and vendors.
Complete documentation required by or requested from DMNC customers within the time allowed by the customer.
Will present results of project implementation to management at QA1.8 and QA2 meetings.
Will monitor project for 90 days after mass production implementation before closing project.
Will develop and/or maintain internal and customer schedules for design changes and prototyping of new products.
Develops engineering quotations, which include process flows, kohsu, manpower requirements, machine requirements and budgets for new products and design changes.
Participates in the development, review, and revisions of IATF engineering documentation.
Coordinate and build prototype parts based upon a customer schedule issued by the PC department.
Participate in corrective action and EF activities to resolve and improve process concerns.
Works to develop and investigate new technologies related to AMI processes and reports to management for approval.
Utilizes DOE techniques on new product lines to ensure robust processes.
Responsible for plant layout changes and maintaining the plant layout on CAD.
Develop and maintain "C" Action Plans.
Support all DMNC departments in cost down activities as communicated in Action Plans.
Act as a mentor for Engineering Assistants and Interns.
Complete all documentation that is required by the APQP process.
Responsible for ensuring that all quality requirements are defined on the Process Control Plan by following the APQP process and assumes responsibility for notifying all appropriate personnel when changes are require, to ensure that the revisions are made to all quality instructions.
Ensures all work areas meet 5S standards.
May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Quality / Environmental Roles and Responsibilities:
Follows all procedures and work instructions and makes recommendations to improve the process. Notifies the Leader immediately upon detecting non-conformances.
Records all non-conformances to ensure corrective action and preventative measures are taken and assists in the problem solving process.
Communicates and practices DMNC's Quality and Environmental Management Systems. Takes an active role in achieving and maintaining IATF and ISO-14001.
Knowledge, Skills and Education Required :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or an Associate's degree with a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Experience utilizing CAD software.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions :
Able to work in a manufacturing environment. Will interact with light machinery. Will work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation.
